Interview Questions

Here are some of the interview questions that we brainstormed in class on Tuesday. Use them to help you structure your interview and report. You needn't ask or use all of them, and you are welcome to add others that you think of as you go along.

Write up a 1-2 page summary of your interview. Be sure to remember to ask your interviewee if it is OK to use their actual name or not.

  • What was the setting in which the student learned English? School, etc?
  • How old were they?
  • Was English their 2nd language or did they know others also?
  • What was the reason that they learned English?
  • Did they enjoy studying English?
  • How were they motivated to study?
  • What was the classroom like? How many students were in the class?
